Out In London | Saturday Night Review

The Occasion: Saturday Night out / Date night

The Plan: Kaspar’s at Savoy | Play “The End Of Longing” | Opium | ECC

In Short: Lovely dinner, theater & great cocktails for a perfect night out.

Budget: ~200 pounds/person

When you live in London, it is so easy to get into the never-ending routine of rushing to work and back home and having all the chores to take care of, responsibilities, evening tv and weekly crazy Friday/Saturday club outings you don’t have much recollection of, thank god for Instagram, right?

But once in a while, you have to remind yourself – you live in one of the capitals of the world, full of history, culture and so much more! I wasn’t planning to write this post but recently I had one of the best Saturdays in a long time and maybe it will inspire you to plan a similar evening, or check one of the places out.

We were planning a girls night out for a while now but we didn’t want just a regular get drunk kind of night so we’ve spent a couple of hours planning and researching, and it was sooo worth it!

We decided we really want to see The End Of Longing play, so once we’ve got the tickets, the plan was built around it. We started the evening at the Savoy, drinks at their award-winning bar and pre-theater dinner at Kaspar’s restaurant. It’s such a beautiful place! Drinks, food, service and the whole experience was perfect and we couldn’t expect a better start to our night.

After a quick stroll by the river, we reached the Playhouse theater, grabbed drinks (like true ladies we’ve got ourselves a pint of Prosecco each) and got to our seats ready to be amused. And it was a great show, the first part so witty, so fun and the second part – deeper and quite sad, but with a happy ending so we left satisfied! The show is running until 14 May 2016 so make sure to go see it before then!

After the show, the night was still young and we decided it was time to check out Opium, a cocktail bar in china town. It was nominated to be one of the best bars in the world so we just had to try it out. I would recommend getting a reservation to make sure you’ll get in!

Once you are ready, and it took us a good 4 cocktails each, move on to ECC (Experimental Cocktail Club) which is just a couple of doors down the street. It’s titled and renowned almost as much as the Opium and serves truly great cocktails. I recommend checking it out because it would be a shame not to and because it has such a great atmosphere! We chose it as the last stop because it has more of a clubby lounge setting, great DJ playing and is a perfect place for the last stop of the night!

And if you feel like eating a proper meal in the middle of the night (let’s face it, maybe you’ll need it ;D) visit The Balance restaurant just around the corner. Don’t deny yourself a good meal when you have an opportunity!

night out

To sum up, I would rate this Saturday night out plan a 10/10. It is based on my personal experience and not sponsored! Please let me know if you decide to visit one or all of the places or you’ve been and if your experience was just as fun!

My Top 10 Favorite YouTube Channels

I was one of those weird teenagers, that didn’t really use YouTube, I know I can’t believe it myself either! But in recent years, I find myself with an overwhelming number of YouTubers I am subscribed to (139 is a lot right?).
Which ones do I currently watch the most? So here it is, in no particular order, the top ten channels I can’t stop myself from checking regularly.*

JennaMarbles
Why watch? Lots of funny videos!

Freelee the Banana Girl
I would probably credit Freelee for turning me to a plant-based diet. I recommend checking out her older videos from 2-3 years ago as recent ones are so different and I personally don’t enjoy watching them as much anymore. Make your own judgement though.

ThePersianbabe
Shopping hauls, makeup updates, lookbooks, videos are usually uploaded a couple of times a month.

Rachel Aust
I found Rachel through recommended videos and just really enjoy watching them. Check it out for great videos on minimalism, sports, beauty and even photography tips!

NinaAndRanda
Fun and positive channel run by vegan twins.

Glam&Gore
Ultimate makeup channel. As Mykie describes herself: “The swiss army knife of makeup tutorials. Beauty. Special Effects. Avant-garde. Industry advice. Products. Foundational teaching. There is something here for everyone, and if you hate makeup, I invite you to at least laugh at my strange face.”

Bonnyrebecca
Lots of recipes & what I ate today, plus random vegan lifestyle talk. I truly like the positive, mindful and kind outlook on life Rebecca promotes.

Evelina
Another makeup channel. Lost of fashion videos as well. What can I say, I’m a girly girl, ahahah

Stef Sanjati
Lots of positivity about life, beauty, lifestyle & honest transitioning story.

High Carb Hannah
Videos about starch based diet, sometimes “controversial” diet experiments, vegan weight loss story, minimalistic lifestyle & other down to earth talk

Summer Berries Smoothie

Spring is here and days are getting warmer and warmer. That calls for a good, berry-rich smoothie full of summer flavors – to make the waiting for the best season of the year a little bit easier!

All you’ll need is some bananas, strawberries, raspberries, coconut sugar and I also recommend adding some concentrated goodies, like baobab powder or flax seeds, just to make it a super smoothie.

My smoothie for two, packs:
3 bananas,
500g strawberries,
150g raspberries,
2 tablespoons of coconut sugar,
2 teaspoons of baobab powder
and a couple of glasses of water (you can use coconut water or any of milk alternatives as well.

I usually make double portion smoothies, if my boyfriend is around, I share it with him, if I’m on my own, I make it a meal and drink it all by myself! In case it’s too much, just store it in the fridge or freeze it and later enjoy it as a sorbet/nicecream.

Now, how about nutritional values? According to cronometer.com, a double portion (if you manage to drink it!) boosts your vitamin C levels through the top! As well as fiber, vitamin B6 and Manganese. Most vital vitamins and minerals are around 50% of your daily requirements, energy: 761.1kcal (44%), protein: 10.3g (24%) carbs: 190.3g (55%) and Fat: 3.8g  (20%).

Not bad, huh? More detailed breakdown and relation to daily requirements, click here. Please note, the parameters for daily requirements are based on vegan high-carb-low-fat diet*.

If you start your day with a smoothie like this, it will give you all the energy you need for the day and then some! I usually have a mono meal** for breakfast and then a smoothie for lunch, about an hour before going to the gym. But it is really your choice and you need to do what feels best for your body!

*I follow this diet quite loosely but keep it as a reference. I’m planning on writing a whole post about plant-based diet/lifestyle soon!
**A meal consisting of 1 type of food, usually fruits like apples, bananas, oranges, etc.
