Life-Enhancing Favorites | Aug 2024

Hello, lovelies!
Welcome to a world of life-enhancing favourites! In this blog post, I’m excited to share some of the top additions to my daily routine that have brought value, convenience, and sustainability to my life. From nourishing bone broth to eco-friendly laundry options and personalized vitamins, these recommendations aim to inspire a healthier, more conscious lifestyle. Join me as we explore these exciting discoveries and embrace positive changes together.

One of my favourite additions to my diet is an old all-time favourite superfood that recently made its way back to popularity, bone broth. I buy it from Freja Foods. I chose it because it’s made from 100% natural ingredients, responsibly sourced and for all the information they provide, like the nutritional values. It’s easy to order, really delicious and offers quite a few options to choose from, different packages and subscriptions. Currently, you can get 20% off with the code SUMMERSALE20.
My go-to is the beef broth for its high protein and collagen content, providing great value for money. I usually enjoy it instead of tea or coffee, but it’s versatile for use in recipes and even smoothies.

Another fantastic find that has become a beauty favourite for me is Trust Deodorant. It offers long-lasting odour prevention that can last up to 3 to 6 days and is aluminium-free. This deodorant remains effective even after showering and swimming and is perfect for travel with its compact size. And it might seem that it’s a little pricey but it’s really not as it last 2-3 months!

Mixing in a home management topic, laundry, I would love to recommend trying out laundry detergent strip sheets as an eco-friendly and versatile option. They are convenient and great for travel too as they will not ruin your close like spilled detergent or popped detergent capsules. These strips are easy to use for both hand and machine washing, take much less space on the shelves, and eliminate the need for bulky plastic bottles, or gel pods, minimizing plastic use in your daily life. My favourites are these two:
Good Clean Stuff and The Lab Co.

When it comes to vitamins, it can be challenging to find trustworthy products. For a personalized approach, I highly recommend trying Vitl.com, a subscription service that tailors a set of vitamins based on your lifestyle and needs, and even offers blood and DNA Nutrition tests to determine a bit of more science-based advice. It’s convenient and packaged for each day so you don’t need to worry about drinking a double portion by accident.

In skincare, I would like to talk about something for travellers or anyone looking to hydrate and protect their skin on the go, a Hypochlorous spray. It can be a useful addition to your skincare routine. It helps hydrate and protect the skin from bacteria. For someone who gets spots quite regularly, this has been a big favourite to prevent them.

Lastly, a fun lifestyle recommendation is Too Good To Go app, a platform that allows you to rescue surplus food from local businesses at a discounted price. It’s a great way to try out new foods, reduce food waste and be more environmentally conscious. By using this service, you can explore various locations offering all kinds of foods from bread and pastries to health stores, and organic stores, or grab comfort foods like pizza or burritos, and contribute to reducing food waste in your community.

I hope you find these recommendations helpful! If you try any of them out please share your feedback, I am looking forward to hearing your thoughts in the comments. See you in the next post!

Beauty Favourites

Not much can be better than discovering a new excellent skin care product.

Let’s get right into it!

First 3 products are listed on www.lookfantastic.com, if you are new to it, you can use my referral code JUSTINA-RUK to get £10 off your purchase.

Dermalogica Daily Microfoliant

#afflinks

Not a recent discovery but an all-time favourite, a recommendation from a friend. This time I got it in a smaller size to make it easy to take it while travelling as well as fewer chances for it to get too much humidity and powder to change consistency (this happened to me once when I think I may have forgotten to close the cap).

At the moment this travel set is at a crazy good price of £38 instead of £63

Or just get it in full size here for £55.

It might seem pricey but I swear it lasts forever and is worth every penny.

Natura Bissé Stabilizing Cleansing Mask

Discovered this one via Morgan Stewart’s Instagram stories, a life-changer according to her and I absolutely agree.

It does everything a cleansing mask should do and more, feels great while you have it on, and even though they advise it for oily or combination skin types, it works great on my more sensitive/dry & combo skin. Of course, I make sure to hydrate it after, continue reading to see how.

Get it here

Been using it for half a year now and can’t imagine my beauty routine without it. At £41 for 75ml, I thought it might be a bit expensive and it will be finished by now but I still have a lot left!

#afflink

Syrene Aqua Hydrating Masque

A lightweight overnight masque that hydrates and nourishes the skin. I have received it recently and tried it a few times – what a winner.

At £70 for 100ml it might seem a little expensive, but again, a little goes a long way. As the saying goes ‘Honey, it’s not cheap but neither are you!’  (don’t forget to use my referral code for £10 off 😉 )

The colour is beautiful, it smells great and the skin feels so lush after using it.

Crabtree & Evelyn Brighten + Hydrate Exfoliating Tonic

I was a little scared to try this one as it does so much in one go but now I miss it even if I skip using it for a day or two (forget to pack for travel for example)

As you can see I focus a lot on balancing the skin whilst keeping it hydrated and this tonic fit so well into my routine!

Get it here for £25

Biotherm Aqua Pure Super Concentrate

The most recent addition to my beauty regime, it’s a fast-absorbing fluid moisturiser that targets to refine skin texture, rebalance and hydrate.

It’s super lightweight so skin doesn’t feel like it has too much after adding sunscreen and make up.

Get it here

At the moment it’s on offer on Biotherm website: for $22.40 instead of $32.00

I got it at an airport for around 25 Euros I believe.

Thank You Farmer Sun Project Light Sun Essence Spf50

South Korean featherweight SPF 50+.  It feels more like a moisturiser and not an SPF, love it!

I have now left only a tiny amount so will need to place an order asap – it is an essential and costs £24 for 40ml.

Use my referral code JUSTINA-R28 for £10 off if you are new to CultBeauty.

That’s it for today!

5-Bullet Friday | August 2018

Hi All!

Sooo… please welcome the second post from 5 Bullet Friday series!

I definitely enjoy writing these because I get to share a bit more random details form my everyday life, covering 5 things I enjoy and recommend at the time of the post.

Here it goes:

  • Book to read  —  Predatory Thinking by Dave Trot

  • Go try now — Byron’s veggie burger:  JACK STACK

(Veggie bean patty, pulled BBQ jackfruit, guacamole, lime dressed rainbow slaw, baby spinach, coriander). After a while, I visited Byron’s again last night and was so pleasantly surprised with their veggie & vegan options! I tried Jack Stack and it was wonderful! The vegan BEETNIK looked great as well – thinking to go try it out soon!

  • Can’t live without —  steamer

I think it’s a sort of sign of growing up, caring if you look put together, your clothes are ironed etc.  I thought I’ll share with you with my best friend every morning, helping me to touch up all those stubborn wrinkles! The one I am using is probably the best price and quality combination and I truly recommend it! It’s also very small and perfectly fits in your luggage whilst travelling.

Phillips Steam & Go is a high-end option currently ruling the market and recommended by many fashion bloggers – I personally haven’t tried it yet but thought I’ll add it just in case you are interested in different price points.

5-Bullet Friday | July 2018

Hi All!

I thought I will start a monthly post series, covering 5 things I enjoy and recommend at the time of the post. Yes, this post is very inspired by Tim Ferris’s weekly newsletter, I hope he won’t mind!

Here is the first dose of “5-Bullet Friday”:

  • Book to read —

Fahrenheit 451 – a dystopian novel by Ray Bradbury.
Trust me.

  • Best shopping finds —

I always am so hopefull when the sales season comes but I end up buying only a few select things! This month I finally got a brown work/everyday handbag, after months of trying to find the perfect one with the perfect shape, size and colour! Finally, I came upon this Michael Kors beauty, Selma!

  • Blog to follow —

Little Grey Box – I stumbled upon it on twitter couple of weeks ago and it became one of my favourite blogs! Here is an excerpt from their about page:

Hi! We’re Phoebe and Matt, award-winning Australian bloggers and professional travel creatives.

A few years ago we both realised we were unsatisfied with the way our lives were going and decided to leave our jobs to pursue our dreams. It was a big decision and a scary moment but it was also incredibly exciting and, hands down, the best thing we’ve ever done. Now, we travel the world creating useful guides and fun travel videos aimed to inspire and entertain.

Phoebe is a travel writer and photographer with a love for storytelling and making people laugh. Matt is a videographer and photographer with a passion for the great outdoors and big adventures.

  • Current obsession —

Tiny houses – I cannot stop watching Youtube videos about them! It is somewhat an increasing trend wave and I cannot say I blame people for being interested in the concept. Minimalism and conscious living is something we should all learn more about.

I hope you have enjoyed my interpretation of a 5-Bullet Friday. Please let me know what you think in the comments below!

Have a wonderful weekend, all!

London’s best cafés: My Place, Soho

Sharing a wonderful review on one of my absolute favourite spots in London.

Dear Anna Bonet (the author of the thamesideliving.com), I could not agree more!

Thameside Living's avatar

If my world revolves around anything, it’s probably coffee. So not only do I take assessing the cafés of London very seriously, but it’s also something that’s very safe in my hands.

Of all those I’ve been to so far (new ones pop up faster than I can say macchiato), My Place, on Berwick St in Soho, comes out very near the top.

When a colleague recommended it to me a few months ago on the basis that it’s where she goes to write her novel, I knew it must be good. It did not disappoint, and, since my first visit I’ve been back so many times that the staff are starting to greet me by name – something I haven’t experienced since living in a village in Wales.

Note that although the vibe is 100% cute coffee shop, they also serve lunch and dinner. However, while the food is…
